The official website of Madras Medical College, Chennai www.mmc.tn.gov.in was formally launched on 1^st August 2009 at 11.00 a.m. A grand function was organized to launch the Tele Medical Education and Tele Health Services and the Website of Madras Medical College. at Government General Hospital. The website was launched by Thiru.P.W.C.Davidar, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Tamilnadu, in the presence of Thiru. M.R.K.Pannerselvam, Honorable Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Tamilnadu., Thiru.V.K.Subburaj I.A.S., Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Tamilnadu and Dr.J.Mohanasundaram M.D., D.N.B., Ph.D., Dean, Madras Medical College & Govt.General Hospital, Chennai, Dr.S.Geethalakshmi, M.D.,Ph.D., Vice–Principal, Madras Medical College.  Also present were Professors & Heads of various departments of Madras Medical College & Govt. General Hospital.

 

The website is intended to serve all categories of people, first the general public and patients who seek the innumerable services offered by this grand old institution of 175 years repute, Medical Fraternity who are spread across the world and aspiring Medical students. The present shape of the site is only a start. Very soon it will become a value added portal with rich in it’s content and it will provide more information regarding all academic and clinical services offered, research being conducted and special facilities available etc. in this institution.  The user need not run around for this information and can access these vital information at the click of a mouse. Thus it becomes the collective obligatory responsibility of all of us to maintain and update the website with more information and make it more purposeful, meaningful and interactive.

 

It is also intended to serve student alumni & faculty alumni of this college who are scattered all over India & the Globe and contributing to the field of medicine but want to be in touch and know the happenings in their alma mater.

Through this website they can recapitulate the college and hospital activities. You can gather valuable information about the heritage and history of the college, hospital, great physician-teachers and personalities who taught, walked and lived their lives in the corridors of this college, during last 175 years.
